Our story

The Meaning Behind the Brand

θ‹₯ζ°΄ or ruo shui means β€œlike water” in Chinese. It comes from the Dao De Jing by Lao Tzu, "True goodness is like water, in that it benefits everything and harms nothing. ”

Metta or ΰΉ€ΰΈ‘ΰΈ•ΰΈ•ΰΈ² means β€œloving kindness” in Thai, which roots in every service we offer.

This is a safe place made of love and care for the founder’s fellow travelers who suffer from chronic pain and want to heal their bodies in a holistic way. In the East, we believe all injuries and traumas can be healed by loving energy.

The Drive Behind the Brand

In the past three years of learning and searching for healing in America, China, and Thailand, Üe has finally come to the other end of the story. She can finally sleep through the night without any pain, and most importantly, she can think clearly again. She has recognized that she is not alone at all. Üe has met countless fellow travelers just like her. Some of us deal with office injuries due to a sedentary lifestyle, some of us deal with chronic diseases, and some of us deal with the effects of cancer, surgery, or auto accidents. The changes that happen in the human body make our lives hellish, and most of us are not well-prepared.

In July 2022, Üe heard a voice within during a silent retreat in Wat Phra Doi Suthep, a mountain temple in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

β€œWe all deserve love and care,” the voice said. She felt tremendous love and compassion spread through her body.

This is why with gratitude, passion, and love, Üe designed therapeutic massage at Mellow Metta, a place for you to heal, connect, and grow. At Mellow Metta, you can prioritize yourself, invest in yourself, love and take care of yourself, and receive the best alternative treatment that manages pain relief and injuries effectively. You can be who you’ve always wanted to be. We can't wait to see you.

Üe (yoo-eh) knows firsthand what it’s like to struggle with pain and search for relief because she lived with multiple spinal injuries including multiple herniated discs, bulging discs, scoliosis, and neuropathy for years. When she came to the U.S., it was hard for Üe to find nonaggressive, authentic, holistic healing modalities. Doctor after doctor and years of physical therapy weren’t able to offer her an ultimate solution that could take away the nagging pain in her neck and shoulder. After she tried all the conventional treatments with her chiropractors and physical therapy doctors, all they could offer was taking painkillers for the rest of her life or having surgery in her 20s that might not work. This was(still is)completely against Üe’s belief about healing.

Growing up in a family full of traditional Chinese doctors, she often heard them say, β€œDance with the body instead of harm the body. Don’t chase the symptoms; find the root cause.” She missed the traditional Chinese massage (tui-na) that balanced her energy and took away all the tightness in her neck and shoulders in just one session. Asian massage and healing centers are not a strange thing in America, but somehow most of them don’t offer the most authentic format (some of them don’t even offer massage). Out of disappointment and frustration, Üe decided to give up her career in finance and tech consulting and search for the answer to her pain in the wellness world.
